Once upon a time, way back in 2016, there was a little boy who thought it would be a good idea to open a dog cookie bakery on Etsy, just for fun and because we liked to bake. Our then only dog (a tweenie dachshund), Slinky agreed.
The little boy's big sister already had an Etsy Shop and she has made over 19,000 handmade little girl's dresses and she thought it would be a great idea to sew a couple of little cute dog bandanas to sell with our cookies, since she had an enormous fabric stash and all. Little did we know that everyone wanted dog bandanas instead of cookies! The good news is mom learned to sew and the little boy got out of touching peanut butter but he still helps with the bandana process from time to time.
We are also the creators of the original "Dog of Honor" machine embroidered wedding bandanas which we began making in early 2017.
In 2018, our "just for fun" project became such a success that mom was able to quit her job as Wedding Venue Manager that she had for 16 years to concentrate full time on our little handmade business!
Fast Forward to June 2019. Cooper was growing up and lost interest in this little business so he handed over the reigns to mom. As the business has evolved, she chose to rebrand to: Pleasant Paws NC, focusing on cute, affordable bandanas for dogs and cats as well as beautiful, heirloom quality wedding keepsakes.
Here we are in 2023, discovering that in this market, that Etsy is no longer a good fit for us so we took the leap to try something different and we thank you for your support.
Our models and taste testers now include not just one dachshund, but four since adding three mini dauchshunds! (Slinky plus Sunny, Gooby and Henri)
We are the happiest when our customers are happy and we love spreading a little extra sunshine now and then. You might just find an extra in your order from time to time!
